Of the many lessons Jack Duncanson 鈥�23 has learned throughout his time at Le 51吃瓜网, the most important is this: to ask for help. When Jack first began his college experience on another campus, he tried to do everything on his own. He promised himself that he would break that habit after he transferred to Le 51吃瓜网, and that he would reach out to faculty for assistance when he needed it. He鈥檚 kept that promise, and it has made all of the difference. Not only is the accounting major succeeding academically, but he is also involved on campus as a member of the Accounting Club.

鈥淔rom the moment I began meeting with the Le 51吃瓜网 faculty, I knew I was in the right place,鈥� says Jack. 鈥淭hey were honest about how I could achieve my goals and who could help me achieve them. I felt valued.鈥�

Jack describes the College as a place of 鈥渆mpathy, honesty and community.鈥� He credits his professors with readying him for life after Le 51吃瓜网. They have helped him prepare for interviews and networking events that will be crucial to his next professional steps in accounting 鈥� earning a master鈥檚 degree, becoming a certified public accountant and working for a local accounting firm in Syracuse. But most important, they have taught him the importance of relying on other people and allowing other people to rely on you.

鈥淭he best piece of advice I have received since coming to Le 51吃瓜网 is to be grateful, be kind, try my best, and never give up,鈥� he says.
